Sutton Foster

Tonight I went with my good friend Charlie (and some of his friends) to see Sutton Foster in concert.  First of all, she was great.  Quite whitty and funny.  She was promoting her new CD, Wish, and she sang several of the songs from the CD.

I really was hoping that she would sing songs from the various shows that she's been in, and she did not disappoint.  She sang "Show Off" and "Astonishing"and a variety of other snippets from shows that she's starred in.  And, best of all, she sang "Gimme Gimme" from Thoroughly Modern Millie, which is pretty much my favorite show of all time. It was wonderful.  Simply wonderful.

Her last song (well before the two encores, one in which she sang "Defying Gravity," which was chilling) was a little song entitled "Come the Wild, Wild Weather" from a show called Waiting in the Wings, which I have never heard of.  But I really liked the lyrics:

Come the wild wild weather
If we've lost or we've won
We'll remember these words we say till our story is done
You may find as we're traveling through the years
Moments of joy and love and happiness
Reason for grief reason for tears

Come the wild wild weather
Come the wind wind come the rain
Come the little white flakes of snow
Come the joy come the pain

We shall still be together when our life story ends
For wherever we chance to go
Wherever we chance to go
We shall allways be friends
